Same problem here
I followed the tutorials on how to install MS SQL 2005 and bp2x. After installation I ran Remote Player Host and then I got this message:
An error has ocurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections.(provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Needed).
I clicked ok and it prompted me to create a new database schema. After clicking create I got the same error message above.
What steps do I need to do from here? I am absolutely thrilled in making this work. Before I tried out the trial version of SAM Broadcaster and what I liked about it is that you have several versions that come with either Firebird, MS SQL, or PostgreSQL included in the package. Installation is easy, one click and I was able to run the program without any problems.
I still believe that you have created a wonderful program and if you can simplify the installation process as to avoid these problems that would be really great.
RE: Same problem here
BP2X version 2.5.5.1 onwards comes with SQL Server Installer.
You no longer need to install SQL seperately.
However, to resolve your issue, you need to enable TCP/IP on the SQL Server instance you installed. By default SQL Server has it disabled.
You can read more about this on this post, http://www.bp2x.com/node/7, or check the latest tutorial video.
I am considering alternative database engine to power it up, but this requires a bit of work for which I don't have time at the moment due to other engagements.
Hopefully soon BP2X will get there.
If you know anyone interested in helping with the development, I'm open for suggestions. I might implement the interfaces for database interactions and someone else will implement them.
RE: BP2X do not find SQL
Hi,
What version are you using?
What is the error message?
Please send a copy of the error from the log files.
When you say can't find SQL, does this mean that you can't find SQL to install or can't find SQL to connect to when SQL is installed?
Cheers,
Emile
Hi, Thanks for the
Hi,
Thanks for the answers.
As I told you,
I´ve followed the steps in the tutorial, so I downloaded SQL Express
2005, and installed in my pc as you describe. Then I start the
installation of BP2X 2.5.5.3 and make the changes the tutorial
indicates. The installation begins but in some poit this message
appears:
Microsoft
SQL Server was not detected or the instance name (BP2X) is wrong. You cannot run
Broadcast Power 2x without Microsoft SQL Server. Setup will attempt to download
and install Microsoft SQL 2005 Express Edition.
Perhaps I´m making some kind of mistake during the configuration of SQL, but I don´t thik so. What do you suggest?
Thank you,
Alejandro
RE: SQL not detected
Hi Alejandro,
Something is wrong wih the SQL installation.
Why don't you let BP2X download and install SQL for you?
Installing SQL Server prior to BP2X is not necessary with version 2.5.5.3.
I suggest you uninstall SQL Server and delete its directory from "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server".
WARNING: If you have more than a single instance of SQL server, please choose the right one to delete from the list. SQL Server creates multiple directories with the names MSSQL.1, MSSQL.2, etc... Find the one you just uninstalled and delete it. If you only have a single instance on your machine, then delete MSSQL.1.
Once you have uninstalled SQL Server, just run the BP2X installer and let it download SQL Server from Microsoft's website and install it for you.
I FINALLY DID IT!!!! Thank
I FINALLY DID IT!!!!
Thank you very much for the advice. I let BP2X dowload and install SQL and the rest was a piece of cake.
For the next few days i´ll be trying the software and then come back to the forum to post my coments.
See you soon,
Alejandro
